International industrial project researches pioneering technology as part of a feasibility study. The polymer industry is giving further innovations in order to solve the next challenges to close the loop of the PVC circular economy. In a transnational project, French chemical company Kem One, Swiss plastics distributor Meraxis and German-based polymers specialist REHAU are working on extracting heavy metals like lead from PVC recyclate. The project is in an early research phase and results could make the raw material even more sustainable. In addition, the extracted heavy metals could be returned to the supply chain cycle.

Polymer converters will face new regulations in the coming years. One example is the proposal to regulate packaging and packaging waste, which the European Council published in November 2023. In this interview, our recycling expert Elmar Schröter explains how companies can prepare for this new regulation and how Meraxis can support them.

Meraxis and Fortum Recycling & Waste have forged a strategic partnership to strengthen our existing cooperation. We distribute selected recyclates from the Finnish recycling company throughout Europe. The portfolio includes high-quality PP, HDPE and LDPE recyclates as well as customized re-compounds.

The global polymer distributor Meraxis has restructured its Executive Board as of March 1: the area of responsibility of Chief Operating Officer (COO) Emmanuel Tarret is being significantly expanded. Tarret, who has been a member of the Meraxis Executive Board for a year, is taking over the newly merged Standard & Performance Polymers Division and assuming charge for Global Sales. This new structure supports the company’s growth ambition in technical polymers and recycling materials.
