The newly developed Recycling Hub centrally registers material and other data from our recycled material suppliers and makes the relevant information available to all parties involved. The central data platform therefore improves quality management not only for our customers but also for our recycled material suppliers.
The pilot phase is currently underway and will last until the end of the year: We are gradually integrating our recycling partners into the system so that they can enter the technical parameters for their recycled materials in the tool. Depending on the material, we request mandatory information such as material flow index, density, residual ash content, or the proportion of foreign polymers. In addition, the available quantity, price, and certificates, such as REACH, FDA, EuCertPlast or ISO 9001, must be provided. Optionally, values such as yield stress or elongation at break can also be specified.
Properties that recyclers cannot measure themselves because they do not have their own testing capabilities are determined in our in-house laboratory. We also verify all information provided at random. «Our recycled material portfolio already meets very high quality standards, as we only work with selected suppliers and test the material regularly. Now we are going one step further and showing the material properties in detail for each batch. We can thereby offer our customers quality that is precisely tailored to their application for every delivery. Furthermore, we are building up a material history that we can easily access.» summarizes Michael Grysczyk, Director of Digital Disruptive Business at Meraxis.
However, the tool offers advantages both for our customers and our suppliers: Recyclers can see if their technical data is within the specified tolerances as soon as they enter it in the Recycling Hub. They therefore receive feedback immediately on whether we are accepting their recycled materials or whether we are asking them to send us a sample for quality inspection. The status of samples sent in to us is also displayed in real-time.
After the pilot phase has been completed, we will transfer the data bundled in the Recycling Hub to the Meraxis customer portal. All orders, contracts, deliveries, and market information are already centrally available there at a glance. With the integration of the Recycling Hub, Meraxis customers can transparently view all relevant information for every batch of recycled material ordered.
Digital solutions such as the Recycling Hub are created in the «Meraxis Elevator» innovation ecosystem. During its development, we not only worked closely with colleagues from various Meraxis teams but also included recycling partners and customers. «Our suppliers and customers benefit equally from our strategic investments in digitalization. The Recycling Hub is an example of how Meraxis uses innovation and technology to increase quality and efficiency and ultimately promote the use of recycled polymers.»
