With the acquisition of production and development capacities, Meraxis is reaching the next milestone in its corporate strategy and setting an example for sustainable growth. The Swiss distributor will take over the REHAU Group's compounding plant in Velen (North Rhine-Westphalia) on January 1, 2026. The plant has a production capacity of around 50,000 tons and manufactures PP, PE, and PVC compounds for the automotive, medical, and furniture industries, among others, which Meraxis now distributes exclusively.

Biopolymers have long been seen as a promising alternative for more sustainable polymer products. Many companies are reluctant to use these materials, though. This is not only due to the higher price, but also to uncertainties regarding processing and additivation. With the right support, biopolymers can be used just as well as polymers from fossil sources.

The global polymer distributor Meraxis is reinforcing its management team: Olga Baburina is assuming leadership of Global Sales and Dr. Mattis Gosmann is taking over as head of the Standard & Performance Polymers Division at Meraxis. These two management additions are strengthening the company’s global polymer purchasing and sales operations to support continued growth. Meraxis is one of the world's leading plastics distributors. The full-service provider's one-stop shop supports customers in the strategic procurement of polymers and polymer-related products.

Meraxis and the AI deep-tech start-up POLYMERIZE have forged a strategic partnership. POLYMERIZE is a developer and provider of a materials informatics platform, which is specifically tailored to the research and development needs in the polymer industry. POLYMERIZE’s Software-as-a-Service platform allows converters, producers, and compounders to optimize their materials development and launch new – and more sustainable – products more quickly. This partnership aims to expand their range of services in the European market. Meraxis is also a shareholder of the Singapore-based start-up.

A transnational partnership pools resources to develop scalable technology to extract heavy metals from recycled PVC and further the circular economy for both materials.

The Swiss trading group Meraxis and the Finnish company Fortum Recycling & Waste (Fortum) are deepening their existing cooperation with a strategic partnership.
